JUNE

Ok, so june was also pretty big. I graduated from the Second City Conservatory after about a year and a half in the program. I considered it to be my Grad School. I moved into an awesome new apartment with a sweet view of the lake. I'm living alone for the first time in my life... And i love it! I turned 24, my parents came to Chicago to throw me a party. Oh, and get this one: I switched to day shift at the hospital! That has made the biggest change in my life in the past year. Seriously, I feel like a new person. While I was on night shift I constantly felt drunk, but the worst part was, I wasn't. Since the change, the sun shines a little brighter, food taste better, and I found out I'm not anti-social. Hallelujah!

Hold up. I totally forgot to mention one of the best part. I audition for and got a role on a sitcom pilot! Its called "In Between" and based in chicago. As of November, nothing has come of it, hasn't been picked up or anything like that, but it was still fun while it lasted, and great to put on my resume. Here is a link to the first episode: http://vimeo.com/2018333

Cliff notes to my last six months.

Oh Boy, It has been a while, and I am sorry. I use the pitiful excuse of work for why I was pulled away from my beloved blog, but thats crap. I did forget how much I love to do it and how much my family appreciates it. So here my chance to try to catch up. Again, I am just going to post some pictures from the last six months and try to catch you up on the important and fun stuff. I began feeling really guilty this month because this has been the coolest November ever, and I have to share it with you. so please enjoy the last six months of my life, and then hold on for a new entry.

MAY
I went on vacation with my favorite Swindle Family. The took me to Arizona with them to babysit/play with the babies. Claire and Ella are 5 and 4 now and this new John Parker Swindle character was 7 months at the time. (He's 13 months now!) The Swindle Family is one of the most precious families I have ever meet. They are so thoughtful and gracious, I had a wonderful time with them. And they have raised some seriously well behaved children.

Next, Lauren Sanborn married Warren Byington! An absolutely beautiful wedding. Family and good friends at Peir Marquette in southern Illionois, where we have spent several family vacations together. I am so happy for the two of them and they are living in Columbia finishing their respective college degrees and have a house and puppies, like little adults. I am so proud of them!

*Check out next post for the adventures of JUNE. (I can only fit a few pictures in each post).

I had 5 days off to spend in Seattle with my bestest friend in the world, Miss Heather Cooper ( Soon to be Mrs. Wade). Of course we took on Seattle like we have done with every other town we've ever traveled to, but this time, Coop has lived here for over a year and knows the lay of the land. So immediately after I arrived, she took me to her favorite lookout spot in Seattle, Kerry Park. Some nice professional photographer used my camera to take a picture of the two of us. He was showing me all the cool settings on my camera and how to properly use it, and only seconds after he handed it back to me, i proceeded to drop ( well actually spike) my camera on the cement. Have no fear, the picture still came out just fine. Probably my favorite of the Adventures of Britt and Coop Photo Album. The next day we got got up and tried to live the lives of Grey's Anatomy and took a ferry to Bainbridge Island. We ate at cafe Nola, recommended by Giada DeLaurentis (we're huge fans of food network,...and food) and window shopped around the cutest northwest coast island town. Oh, and we got coffee of course. That night Mike (Cooper's MIke) took us out to a great dinner at a Spanish/Italian restaurant called Tidbit, had great food and great wine.
The next morning we took advantage of the great outdoors and drove out of the city and hit up the back country. We hiked half way up Mount Si. we had every intention of climbing he whole thing but by the time we got to the snow line we were falling all over the place. It was funny but then we considered the trip back down the snow covered trail and decided to do the responsible thing and carefully climb back down. The weather held up nicely for us, no rain or snow for that matter. We then headed to Snoqualamie Falls, appearantly they are taller than Niagra falls. We walked down to the viewing point, which was leisurely, but the walk/climb back up was a bitch. By that time my muscles had realized this was more activity than they were used to. I made it but was more pooped than i deserved to be. A girl wearing heals was walking down the same path, come on!
Mike and Cooper had some friends over to their new condo and we BBQed burgers and veggies and played speed scrabble. awesome. They were some really great guys and Im so glad they have good friends in Seattle. Most of them worked for Boeing, so I reminded them that there's a Boeing office in Chicago and they should transfer there so they could be my cool friends too.
Sunday morning we went to Cooper and Mike's pre-marital class. (Well, first actually we headed to the Chai house, a whole shop devoted to Chai tea, i'm in love). So at the class I thought it would be weird, literally a third wheel but it was actually a big lecture rather than one on one teaching, so they didn't even notice I wasn't engaged, or had a guy with me, or that I wasn't the only single person in the room. I swear it wasn't weird or depressing, it was actually very informative.
After church we went to the Freemont market, a really artsy street fair. However the only thing I bought was chocolate, Chai tea flavored chocolate, i was following a theme. The picture of us in the hands of what look like Lord Voldermort, it actually the Freemont Troll built under one of the cities bridge. Going with the artsy theme of Freemont, a local artist built it with a real VW beattle in his hands. Cool, but pretty creepy at the same time. If i didn't know it was there and I happened to be going for a walk at night and came across it... well lets just say, I might need a fresh set of drawers : o
It was a lovely trip, Seattle is beautiful. Its totally surrounded by water AND mountains. The Cherry Trees were in bloom while we were there, Cooper took me to the University of Washington (where she works and goes to grad school) to see the campus with the trees that only bloom for a few weeks a year, and we got to experience it. It was a gorgeous backdrop for another photo to add to the Adventures of Cooper and Britt Photo Album.

MB-eezie

Mary Beth turned 27 a couple of weeks ago and we went to Lincoln Tap Room again, the perfect place to have a birthday on a monday night. They gave us drink specials and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. A couple of my friends from class came too, we had just had our first show at Second City earlier in the night.
We had the whole place to ourselves, but we spent most of the night in one area: the photobooth, taking pictures in the booth and around the booth. Ed, my friend from class, had surprisingly never been in a photobooth before. So we had fun taking fake headshots and silly faces.
The night led us to big city dinner where we got more food and drinks and made our way home around sunrise. One benefit of working the nightshift, i wasn't the one who needed to go home early. I made it all night, Go me.

Little Lauren

Oh, the kids are growing up. Little Lauren Sanborn is getting married in May. I took the amtrack (for $16) to St. Louis, where my family picked me up, we then drove to Bourbon to spend the night with the other Sanborns. I love my family, they are so much fun; they had drinks waiting for us when we got there. Considering, I had not really slept in over 24 hours, I was feeling fine in no time. Kaylen and Lauren's grandparents, The Stuckys, were also there. We ended up having 10 people sleep in their house, and our gracious hosts didn't flinch Aunt Donna and Uncle Blake are wonderful people, and I'm bummed that I unfortunately have no pictures of them on this blog, but no worries, come wedding day, there will be plenty. Then we headed to Rolla, MO for a couples wedding shower. The Aunts (my mother and Aunt Dana) were throwing it, so they spent the next day cooking deliciousness while the rest of us just pooped around. A lovely Saturday if you ask me. I did manage to go for a walk around Anthony's Mill and the lake somewhere in between naps.
That night the shower was held at Grandma Diane and Grandpa NIck's house. My parents did their magic and cooked pulled pork, chicken, cheesy corn, and of course milky way bar desserts for about 60 people. (They make it look so easy!)
Warren has a lot of cousins. I lost count. I didn't get to know many new people, I just stayed with the people I wanted to hang out with. I don't see that side of teh family too often, so it was fun to see everyone. Once the big crowd left it was just Kaylen, Lauren, Warren, Warren's sister, Kaylen's date, Grandma Stucky, Brandon, and I playing catch phrase. Just some good wholesome fun.
It was a family filled 48 hours. I feel guilty for not visiting more often. I'm only 6 hours away, being with them was a reminder of how lucky I am to have such a great family.

Feb 29th never happened

1. I was really excited that it was a leap year and i thought that i'd do something fun with this extra 24 hours the universe gave us. However, after I came home from work this morning, I went to sleep and woke up at 1am, March 1st. Its like friday never happened.
2. Chicago is still a snowy mess.
3. I saw William Shatner when i was leaving the hospital the other morning, we actually almost ran into each other. It kind of just made me laugh, and i had a bad night, but totally forgot why i was upset when i saw him. he he.

Evacuation Vest

1. I had two shows in one week. Aunt Pat, Uncle Gene, Uncle JOe, Jamie, and Erin came to my RECESS show! We had a blast, the show went great. We tried a new form, played with music a little bit. It was fun and it was our coaches last show with us, so we celebrated for sure. Danielle and Rose from work came too. What dolls. And we also went out after the show, we hit a bar in boystown, and only in boystown would Project Runway be playing on every screen in the bar rather than a sports game.
2. On tuesday, I had my level 4 graduation show at iO which was probably one of my favorite performances. Our team was perfect, everyone did what they were supposed to do, and trusted each other on stage. I had told the class about the baby vest in the nursery, and they decided to name our team Evacuation Vest in honor of the emergency baby saving device. And, yes, we went out and drank afterward, had dollar tacos and celebrated. We are almost done with the whole program. Where did the year go? By the way, if you happen to be in the Chicagoland area in April- July, my Second City and iO graduation shows will run all summer long. Yippee!3. After the show on Tuesday, after the first round of 'going out times' at iO, I met up with Mary Beth at Corcorans, then went back to Second City in the middle of the night to check on the kids painting the mainstage theatre. We walked in on sexy poses by the men and Megan Powers hopped on 1 liter of Jolt cola, the kid was trippin'! I miss those peeps. Oh what fun.
4. Thats right, a fourth addition, breaking the tradition. I worked 12 hours of overtime this week, and I regret nothing. I have really started to enjoy work and the people I work with and the things i do. I mean come on, I work with babies and mommies. Most of the time its wonderful, and the rest of the time i ts great material for a sketch later. And besides, my paycheck is going to be fat this week. Woohoo, sign me up for another 12 hours.

check out my prison tatts... just kidding

1. I went with Mary Beth and her dad to a tattoo parlor and the only one that got a tattoo was Mary Beth's dad. He has wanted one for twenty years. Its of a zipper over his appendix scar. There is a bet waged as to when his wife will find out he has a tattoo.
2. Brandon made Summer Welcome, which to all that now about Mizzou, is a really big deal. Iam so proud of him. Over 120 interviewed for the position and 36 were chosen, GO Brando!
3. I've had four days off in a row and i did nothing.... It was awesome.

I need a cup of coffee so bad!

here are the three things from my week:
1. I have given up caffeine (almost) cold turkey. Last night was tough, but I have been clean for 3 days.
2. Cloverfield may be the scariest movie I have ever seen, but I loved it and really want to see it again. Plus two of the main actors are from Chicago which is always exciting.
3. I started a new class at Improv Olympic, which i love. This is my favorite class so far.

I've come to a conclusion

I really do enjoy writing this blog, but somehow, it always gets out at the bottom of my list. It was so much easier to write when I only had to work for 4 hours a day. This job job and 12hr work days (I am at work by the way) is kicking my butt. So I have decided to maintain it, but not intend to write a novel each time I blog. Here is the promise i will make though: atleast once a week I will update said blog with atleast 3 fun facts. If i can't divulve into the deepest darkest most detailed secrets of my life, i will leave you with tidbits of information to keep you up to date.
So here are the funfacts I shall leave you with today:
1. I forgot my scrubs for work today and had to buy a pair out of a vending machine.
2. My parents got a new dog; her name is Katie Mizzou Sanborn. (Katie for the girl who rescued her, Mizzou for the school that rescued Brandon and I, and Sanborn because I have a feeling my parents have replaced us with her as one of their new children, accept it, I was just phased out).
3. I went snowtubing (at no less than 30 mph) with my Brother, Aunt, and Uncle (who is 67!) last night.

Thank you for enjoying these facts, I hope you are now better informed about me.
